Use Your Incentive Spirometer Regularly

  • Take slow, deep breaths through the spirometer.

  • Aim for 10 deep breaths every two hours while awake.

  • Allow at least one hour after meal before using Spirometer.

Practice Deep Breathing Exercises

  • Take slow deep breaths and hold for 2–3 seconds.

  • Repeat several times throughout the day.

Support Your Chest When Coughing

  • Hug a pillow over your chest while coughing or sneezing.

  • Avoid heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling during the healing period.

  • Follow your surgeon’s recommendation regarding weight limits.

Increase Activity Gradually

  • Walk a little farther each day.

  • Listen to your body and avoid overexertion.

Follow Physiotherapy Instructions

  • Perform prescribed limb exercises regularly.

  • Physiotherapy helps improve lung function, strength, and endurance.

Balance Activity with Rest

  • Adequate sleep and rest are essential for healing.

  • Take breaks when tired.

Attend Cardiac Rehabilitation

  • Participate in supervised cardiac rehabilitation if available.
